AFTER SCHOOL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM-

A little bit about how the program works:  When the children arrive, they have a snack and someone to greet them with a smile and a hug!

We focus our tutoring on three areas:

Reading, Math & Homework—

Our Reading Skills enhancement program meets each child at their level. Children are placed in a small group with other children of similar ability and given a developmentally appropriate book to read. The facilitator (volunteer) monitors and guides the reading of each child as needed.

Math is about so much more than just numbers—our online Math Curriculum- IXL is too! It approaches each math concept from all angles, offering visual representations, word problems, interactive activities, and more.

During our Homework Time we don't feed students the answers to the questions. Instead, we help students understand concepts--not just memorize them.

During the program we focus our relationships in two areas:

Children knowing Jesus & Helping Families—

We make every effort to live out the Love of Jesus. We also encourage each volunteer to talk with the children, to get to know them, creating opportunities to share the Good News of Jesus and allowing us a peek into their family life; giving us opportunities to help not just to the child but their entire family.
